As part of the Chief Information Officer's organization (Information Services), the Innovation Program is dedicated to enabling, supporting, and scaling innovation across CPKC's broader operations. We work closely with business partners, enterprise architecture, and delivery teams to foster innovation for and with our internal and external customers. By leveraging design, technology, and business tools, we co-create solutions to business challenges through new products and service offerings, process redesigns, and technology implementations
Describe the project.:
As part of the broader mandate of innovation programs, this project is aimed at developing and implementing processes that enable and expand bringing innovation service offering to broader CPKC employees across different departments, focusing on three key personas:
• Employees who want to be informed about innovation tools and methods
• Employees who want to be part of innovation projects
• Employees who want to initiate and lead innovation projects
The project entails developing new and adopting existing innovation methods to meet organizational needs, design and delivery of training workshops to teach innovation methods and develop innovation ambassadors, leveraging Gen AI to develop a self-serve virtual innovation coach, establishing and nurturing new channels to expand innovation reach across different geographies and locations, developing a unique design identity through the CPKC design system, and curating and presenting cutting-edge technology developments to CPKC leadership by designing and delivering innovation days.
Required expertise/skills:
1. Track Record in Design and Innovation: Proven experience in applying design and innovation to solve real-world business or social problems.
2. Human-Centered Design: Practical knowledge of human-centered design, service, and product design principles.
3. Facilitation Techniques and UI/UX Design: Exposure to facilitation techniques, UI/UX design, business design, and developing high-tech value propositions.
4. Online Collaboration & Design Tools: Proficiency with online collaboration tools like Miro, Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign), and Microsoft Office 365 (PowerPoint).
5. Stakeholder Management: Good stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders at varying levels of the organization.
6. Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.
7. Project Management: Basic understanding of project management principles, including planning, executing, monitoring, and closing projects.
8. Research Skills: Ability to conduct thorough quantitative and qualitative research, market trends, and technology developments.
9. Digital Transformation and Strategy: Exposure to enterprise technology, digital transformation, and strategy is an asset.
10. Programming: Basic programming skills (C#, Python) and familiarity with 3D graphics tools (Unity, SketchUp, Blender) are considered an asset.
