About the company:
Elluvate is a Vancouver-based AI and data implementation firm delivering products and services to Canadian businesses. Our Mission, "Insight to Impact", drives us to help organizations leverage cutting-edge artificial intelligence to streamline processes, automate labor-intensive tasks, and achieve measurable business outcomes.
As an early-stage company specializing in AI implementation, we serve clients across heavily regulated industries including financial services, healthcare, legal, and insurance. Our core competencies include process automation, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems, agentic AI solutions, and enterprise system integration.
Our flagship product, Diligence Hub, is an AI-powered regulatory compliance platform designed for payment service providers (PSPs) navigating the Retail Payment Activities Act (RPAA). With registration now mandatory and first annual reports due March 2026, Canadian PSPs face urgent compliance requirements around operational risk management, end-user fund safeguarding, and regulatory reporting. Diligence Hub automates policy document analysis against Bank of Canada requirements, delivering accurate compliance assessments in days rather than weeks.
Elluvate operates at the intersection of business and technology. We are nimble, forward-looking, and evolve rapidly to meet shifting regulatory landscapes. Our clients retain 100% ownership of their data while benefiting from responsible, compliance-aware AI.
Describe the project.:
This project involves researching, implementing, and validating AI techniques and implementations for regulatory compliance analysis to achieve industry-leading accuracy and reliability.
Business Problem:
Canada's Retail Payment Activities Act requires payment service providers to register with the Bank of Canada and submit annual compliance reports starting March 2026. PSPs must analyze policy documentation against complex regulatory requirements, traditionally requiring months of manual review by compliance specialists. While AI can dramatically accelerate this process, hallucinations are unacceptable in compliance contexts where citation accuracy determines legal standing and regulatory outcomes.
Existing Foundation:
Elluvate has built a functional compliance analysis system prototype capable of analyzing documents against Bank of Canada requirements. The scope of work is to assist in developing our product into an industry-leading due diligence solution that is production ready.
Scope:
- Investigate and validate existing implementation against industry-leading practices, benchmarking performance against academic and commercial standards
- Optimize prompts using leading techniques to achieve desired results and token efficiency (e.g., few-shot learning, chain-of-thought reasoning, structured output formatting)
- Investigate and validate results to ensure citation accuracy, answer completeness, and fitness for regulatory compliance use cases
- Investigate, implement, and validate an automated testing framework to ensure stability, reliability, and regression prevention as the system evolves
Commercial Application:
Outcomes directly enhance Diligence Hub's competitive positioning in the Canadian regulatory technology market. Validated improvements benefit PSPs preparing for RPAA compliance deadlines, with methodology transferable to adjacent regulated industries including healthcare, legal, and insurance.
Expected Outcome:
A validated, best-in-class compliance analysis system, backed by empirical evidence demonstrating our approach represents the optimal solution for accurate, verifiable regulatory assessments. The intern will produce documented research findings, quantified performance benchmarks, and a robust testing infrastructure that ensures continued excellence as the platform scales.
