About the company:
Simply Sweet Games is a Canadian, women-founded game studio building premium, inclusive word-puzzle games for global audiences. The company’s flagship product, Criss Cross Castle, combines wordplay, cozy adventure, and accessible design for players who want a thoughtful, ad-free alternative to mainstream casual mobile games.
The company is developing reusable word and puzzle systems that can support future games, platform expansion, and potential partnerships with media, education, and branded content organizations. As Simply Sweet Games moves from early product validation toward commercialization, the company requires stronger business intelligence systems to track product performance, player behaviour, marketing effectiveness, revenue, and partner-readiness.
Describe the project.:
This project will develop an executive analytics dashboard and KPI framework for Simply Sweet Games to support decision-making across product, marketing, finance, and business development. The company has early product and commercialization data from soft launch, including installs, retention, conversion, revenue, acquisition channels, app store performance, player feedback, and survey responses. However, these data sources are currently fragmented across multiple platforms and reports, making it difficult to quickly assess performance, identify trends, prioritize improvements, and communicate progress to investors, funders, partners, and internal stakeholders.
The innovation to be developed is an improved business intelligence process and practical executive dashboard for a small, growing game studio. The goal is to create a reporting system that is useful, affordable, maintainable, and aligned with Simply Sweet Games’ Microsoft-based operating environment and Unity-based product analytics needs.
The candidate will identify the company’s most important product and business KPIs, including metrics related to acquisition, activation, retention, engagement, conversion, revenue, marketing efficiency, platform performance, player feedback, partner pipeline, and funding milestones. They will map existing data sources, assess gaps or inconsistencies, and recommend a repeatable process for data collection, review, and reporting.
The candidate will use business analysis, data mapping, KPI design, dashboard design, and stakeholder consultation methods. They may work with tools such as Excel, Power BI, Microsoft 365 applications, Unity Analytics, app store analytics, advertising dashboards, survey tools, and financial or business development records. Software licensing cost, ease of use, data ownership, and long-term affordability should be considered when recommending the final solution.
Expected deliverables include an executive KPI framework, data source map, reporting process recommendations, a working dashboard or dashboard prototype, and guidance for recurring leadership, funder, investor, and partner reporting.
Required expertise/skills:
The ideal intern will have knowledge or experience in business analytics, data analysis, dashboard design, digital marketing analytics, product metrics, financial analysis, or business strategy. Experience working with Microsoft-
based tools such as Excel, Power BI, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, or related Microsoft 365 applications would be valuable. Familiarity with Unity Analytics, app store analytics, advertising dashboards, or other digital product data sources would also be an asset.
Strong analytical, communication, and synthesis skills are important. The intern should be comfortable working with imperfect or fragmented data, identifying meaningful KPIs, and translating business needs into practical reporting tools. They should also be able to consider software licensing costs, ease of maintenance, and long-term affordability when recommending a dashboard solution.
An interest in games, digital media, startups, marketing analytics, or product commercialization would be an asset.
