About the company:
WAT Medical Enterprises develops wearable medical devices that provide safe and effective alternatives to medication. The team consists of leaders in medical technology innovation. Website: www.watmedical.com
Describe the project.:
HeadaTerm is a wearable headpatch that uses targeted neuromodulation to relieve users of primary headaches, including migraine, cluster headaches, hypnic headaches, and tension headaches. The device is approved by the FDA for treating primary headaches. Previous clinical trials have shown that the device is up to 27% more effective than oral NSAIDs at relieving headaches in the emergency department.
The goal of this project would be to explore HeadaTerm’s effectiveness at:
1. Reducing migraine and other types of primary headaches. The project can compare the effects of HeadaTerm with a placebo and/or of HeadaTerm with oral medications.
2. Providing secondary therapeutic benefits to migraine patients who suffer from insomnia, anxiety, depression, and other debilitating conditions often found with chronic migraine.
The intern’s tasks include performing non-invasive procedures to collect data of the research participants, testing the effects of HeadaTerm using designated protocols, and consolidating research data while assisting in data analysis.
Required expertise/skills:
Experience in migraine, neurological, and/or sleep research.
Proficiency in data analysis softwares.
