About the company:
Aspeira Systems has created a StackMod linear chain actuator that is precision-engineered to transform the dynamics of mechanical motion. The actuator is precision-engineered to transform the dynamics of mechanical motion. The device is modular, designed to be easily configurable for variable load and space configurations from micro to mega scale. The actuator is comprised of mechanized lengths of chain which link together to form a rigid, hollow structure used to lift, push or pull. When the sprockets are reversed, the links separate, and the chains withdraw into compact casings for reduced retracted space.
The interlocking chain improves resistance to buckling and reduces the need for a stabilizing framework. This technology has wide applications in industries that require an improved aspect ratio to maximize space, such as manufacturing, warehousing, oil and gas, etc., as well as industries using robotics armatures.
Describe the project.:
What is the project about?
The project will help Aspeira identify and develop the applicable case-specific StackMod designs.
What is the main goal of the company ( a final product, software, knowledge in a specific area, etc)?
Aspeira’s main goal in the project is to obtain strategic information and knowledge leading to the next version StackMod prototype and inform the development of its unique value proposition, which will be further used for marketing and business presentation purposes.
What are the main tasks to be performed by the candidate?
At the commencement of the project, Aspeira’s management will determine more specific tasks and deadlines with the intern, but the planned tasks are the following:
- Analyze StackMod’s technology status and designs developed by RDP during the iVisit project
- Research applicable industry applications for StackMod
- Research case-specific adjustments needed for the device and make recommendations
- Assist with the value prop development and competitive analysis, including the ROI
- Develop the project report and make a presentation of findings and recommendations to the company
What methodology/techniques are to be used?
The intern is expected to complete the tasks listed above using the following methodology:
• Secondary research
• Ground truthing – verification and analysis of the physical limitation of StackMod to design modular units
• Design analysis and development
