SEENALO Inc. is a Canadian company that helps organizations understand why problems keep happening and what is shaping those results. The company begins with the people closest to the work. It gathers information from interviews, documents, operational data, and direct observation. SEENALO then looks for patterns across people, workflows, culture, policies, and organizational structures. Its work currently focuses on health, social services, and public organizations. SEENALO is developing a set of methods called LISTEN™, Evidence-to-Insight™, Insight-to-Action™, and Action-to-Learning™. These methods are still being developed and tested. SEENALO wants to work with academic researchers to study how well the methods work, where they need to improve, and how they can be used responsibly in different settings.

SEENALO is seeking a research intern to help study and improve Evidence-to-Insight™, a structured method for turning different types of organizational evidence into clear, well-supported findings. The method uses evidence from interviews, documents, operational data, and observation. Practitioners record the evidence, group similar findings, compare information from different sources, look for gaps or contradictions, rate the strength of the evidence, and show how each final insight is supported.
The main research question is whether trained practitioners can use the method in a clear, consistent, and practical way. The project will also study whether the method helps practitioners reach similar conclusions when they review the same evidence, and whether the final insights can be traced back to the original evidence.
The intern may complete a literature review, help refine the research questions, develop a research protocol and coding guide, test the method on sample or approved organizational cases, compare results between reviewers, assess usability and training needs, and recommend changes.
If ethics, privacy, and partner approvals are in place, the project may include a pilot in a healthcare, social service, or public sector setting using the minimum amount of personal information needed.
Expected outputs include a research report, a refined method, a coding and measurement approach, a pilot protocol, and recommendations for future research.
Expertise ou compétences exigées:
We are looking for a master's or PhD-level intern with experience in qualitative or mixed-methods research. Helpful areas of study include organizational behaviour, public health, implementation science, public administration, psychology, business, or related fields.
The intern should be able to complete literature reviews, work with interviews or focus groups, code and compare qualitative data, follow research ethics and privacy requirements, and explain findings in clear language. Experience with thematic analysis, framework analysis, inter-rater reliability, process evaluation, or measurement development would be useful.
Experience with NVivo, MAXQDA, or similar qualitative research software is an asset. Basic skills with Excel, R, SPSS, or similar tools may also help.
The ideal candidate is careful, curious, organized, and comfortable questioning assumptions. Experience in healthcare, the public sector, rural or remote settings, human-centred design, or facilitation would be an added benefit.
